Piracy is the unauthorized reproduction of any copyrighted material. Copyrighted material can be music, literature, a product, and many other things. Even if it is illegal, it is constantly put to practice in many countries.
Illegally downloading music
There are many ways to have piracy in technology. For instance, when people download music or videos that are copyrighted, that is illegal. It is incredibly difficult to stop, especially if people keep looking for ways to ignore this law.Millions of people do not realize that piracy is wrong. In the example about music and videos given above, there are people who think this is okay to do and that it won’t hurt anyone. Unfortunately, it does; if the person who downloaded it would’ve bought that song or video, then the author or singer of that work would’ve been payed, respecting that it is their property. Instead, they do not receive anything, and the people still use they work. Many governments are doing campaigns to stop piracy and the trafficking of the illegal material. For example. Mexico has made TV commercials called “Di No a la Pirateria” , were the importance of stopping this is reflected so that people see it is not only an economic issue, but a moral one too.
Di No a la Pirateria
Also, programs which contribute to piracy are being eliminated from the web. For example, LimeWire was found and erased a few months ago, and many LimeWire users had to get other programs to download all of their files again.Piracy impacts millions of people around the world. Some are impacted in a good way, since they do not have to pay for what they are using. Still, this is stealing. Is stealing good? Is stealing something considered to be okay? It is not! That is why piracy needs to be stopped. The issue here is that everyone needs to realize that what they are doing is wrong, and that there are better ways to achieve or get what they want to have. I think it is all about convincing the people and educating them about this topic. -March 1, 2011
